Sponsorship for employee endeavours – supporting West Midlands young football team

Wherever possible, we are open to supporting employee endeavours through means such as sponsorship. Prior to the lockdown period, our Payroll Administrator Emma Rowley asked if it was possible for RML to take part in a sponsorship of her Son’s football team in the West Midlands, which CEO Simon Kidney was happy to approve. This financial support meant the team could order their playing kit for the next 2 years, of which the funding is essential to keep the non-for-profit team playing throughout the season:

The team RML have supported is Sedgley & Gornal Utd under 13’s, who will soon be starting the 20/21 season in the Stourbridge Dudley Youth Football League (SDYFL) in the West Midlands. Despite football taking a back seat during the lockdown period, teams have now been reinstated within manageable social bubbles.

With little social interaction over the past 6 months, the team have been eager to restart their training from the end of July and continue with their passion for sport. Despite the boys attending different schools, they have been able to make new friendships within the team and stay active. As well as Emma’s son being the goalkeeper for the team, her husband is a regular volunteer coach for the team and Emma attends games to provide much needed refreshments and support.

Being able to see the impact our sponsorship has made is rewarding for the business and mirrors our core values. We anticipate hearing more around the team’s progress this season and continue to support our employee’s personal endeavours wherever possible.
