Robinson Manufacturing (RML) recently completed work for P&P Roofing Contractors Ltd., situated at Elm Road, Llanharry, Wales. This project offers 5-bedroom bungalow planned to be used as accommodation for adults with learning disabilities. The bungalow will also include a communal kitchen, 2 communal living areas and a ‘safe space’ as this scheme will be used for people with high-level autism. This project introduced new challenges due to its location and unique features within the design.

James Stanbridge, Head of Timber Frame, has this to say about the project:

“This project was located on a tight site within a residential area which resulted in fire mitigation measures being required. These were achieved with fire-rated external cladding, fire treated flooring and fire protected I-beam joists within our manufactured floor cassettes.”

All fire mitigation measures were absorbed off-site within our manufacturing processes. This achieved time and cost savings on site. “Another unique feature in this project was large, vaulted areas and an external canopy which needed to be engineered to cantilever out to avoid the use of external posts as support.” James added.

Being involved every step of the way from design through supply and final installation the project was completed successfully on time. “We enjoyed working with our client and look forward to seeing the structure finished and in use,” James concluded.
