Steve Grice moves into the Timber Frame design role
In response to the growing popularity of Timber Frame within the construction industry, Robinson Manufacturing (RML) needed to expand the Timber Frame design team. Steve Grice has built up considerable skills and knowledge as a part of the truss and joist design and estimating team at RML North West, before moving into his new role in the Timber Frame department. Having the transferable knowledge from designing roof trusses and metal web joists has helped him to settle into the new role.
Steve is enjoying the variety of the role, especially the close connection with different departments across the business. When asked about the motivation to change the job role, Steve said:
“When the opportunity arose, I was instantly interested in becoming part of the timber frame team. Not only did it offer the chance to further develop my knowledge regards construction timber design but, as we are a close-knit team, there is potential scope for being involved in other areas such as estimating, business development and site support.”
Steve has seen massive growth across the business since he joined RML in 2018 as part of the company’s acquisition of Cheshire Roof Trusses and welcomed the opportunity to gain new experience within RML and expand his knowledge of the timber frame design as well as the industry as a whole. “The main learning so far has been regarding the processes and details currently used in timber frame from quote all the way through to production and install that differ from my prior role within RML,” Steve added.
