Sarah Hatton Profile – Cheshire Project Manager

Joining the Truss Production team at the end of last year, Sarah Hatton was appointed as Project Manager for operations at the RML North West site in Cheshire. Since the acquisition of Cheshire Roof Trusses in 2018, this factory has seen many changes to integrate with RML processes and increase capacity, such as establishing a larger office area for employees.

Although Sarah is originally from Cambridgeshire, this opportunity in Cheshire meant that she could reconnect with friends made at her time in Liverpool and pursue a new career path. Her previous role consisted of working for a Cambridgeshire regional contractor in Marketing and Business Development Administration, within the pre-construction department.

This previous role involved curating newsletters, creating content, handling tenders from suppliers and managing new business opportunities. The experience gained from working for a contractor allowed Sarah to understand our customers’ needs and the importance placed on health and safety in the industry. By gathering accurate information for marketing materials, she has also accumulated technical knowledge which can be applied to our manufacturing processes.

As Sarah is accustomed to liaising with various departments as part of her daily tasks, she is particularly looking forward to this aspect of her new role. The initial induction period consisted of spending some time at our Central site in Wellingboroug, shadowing Assistant Head of Production Michelle Brayfield and Branch Manager Tom Carter. This allowed Sarah to understand daily production tasks, see how any challenges are overcome and build product knowledge.

Following this induction in Wellingborough, Sarah has been able to begin her daily tasks with the support of Production Co-ordinator Sonja Nicholls and Designer Steve Grice. Sarah’s focus will now be on continuing to integrate RML processes into Cheshire production, assisting with future expansion plans and updating machinery.
