You might have seen our series about relocating production at our Wales & West factory from Abercarn to the larger operation at Ebbw Vale.  This involved a huge amount of planning, moving machinery and extensive groundwork to complete the relocation process successfully.

Once everything was in place our team moved onto the next phase, the yard expansion.

“When we planned the move, we knew the yard needed to be extended to access the full scale of potential the site offered and that the original layout needed some adaptation to fit with RML production methods.” Greg Farrar, Facilities Manager explained. “Planning ahead was challenging at times as we balanced production demands, adverse weather conditions and the physical obstructions of creating yard space whilst hitting bedrock in the mountainous ground! The process of pouring the new concrete areas was divided into two phases in order to maximise the strength of the new storage area.” Greg continued.

Finishing this initial phase the yard expansion at Ebbw Vale helps Robinson Manufacturing to manage production and storage levels more effectively which will have a direct impact on our ability to meet growing customer demand. The next phase will dovetail with the increase in timber frame output from our market leading facility.
