TRA (The Trussed Rafter Association) members have made a decision to switch to new EC5 standards by 1st July this year.

As proud and pro-active members, Robinson Manufacturing takes the view that we want to offer our clients a proactive solution, and decided to stay ahead of the curve and change as of 01st Jan this year.

EC5 designs run many more calculations than old BS designs, and therefore use more processing power.

In order to ensure our estimating and design team had equipment that was up to the job, we asked our IT provider to specify a machine and provide one for testing.

New Hardware to support EC5 regulations

After a month’s testing, it was judged that a traditional hard disk drive might be causing issues with a lag in the software, so we requested a Solid State Drive option to test.  This gave a much improved result, so the decision to invest was made.

  • The investment includes:
  • 15 New PCs in total
  • Model – HP ProDesk 400 G4MT
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Processor – Intel® Cors (TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
  • 16GB RAM

Design Office Manager Matt Korny commented: “Making sure we were in a position to deliver to EC5 standards with immediate effect was part of our service challenge. Our leadership team are always supportive, and I have to say we are very pleased with the results!”
