A Marketing Induction in Manufacturing


As part of our involvement with the Government’s kickstart scheme, we have welcomed a number of new starters into various departments throughout the business. This gives young people the opportunity to gain some real work experience and develop their employability skills, something invaluable in the current employment climate. Kieran Savani has recently joined the marketing department at our RML Central site in Wellingborough, with his induction consisting of meeting with colleagues and spending time in various areas of the business to broaden his knowledge in a new manufacturing environment. 

As a recent marketing degree graduate, the kickstart scheme has given Kieran the opportunity to experience various areas of marketing. It is imperative for our marketing team to have a full understanding of the business and our processes to effectively communicate our message externally. For this reason, Kieran has taken the practical approach of spending time on the factory floor to gain product knowledge and see our manufacturing methods first hand, commenting:

‘My introduction to RML has given me an insight into what to expect as I progress further in my marketing career. Already, in the beginning weeks of my time at RML, I have been exposed to so much. I have been able to get involved in the production of trusses and metal web joists, attend site visits and meet a vast amount of the RML family.’

As well as providing support for marketing administrative activites, Kieran’s experience will be maximised through working on a number of projects to provide insight that can be utilised for strategic decisions. The kickstart workbook compiled by Head of HR Anna Kennedy will also guide Kieran through his time at RML and provide employability advice.
