Looking Forward to 2022

Firstly of course, Happy New Year! We hope you have had a peaceful and relaxing break and would like to take the opportunity to tell you about some of the reasons RML is looking forward to 2022.

After the challenges of 2021 which put so much pressure on across manufacturing and construction, we take great heart from how Robinson Manufacturing (RML) navigated the difficulties in supply chain, staffing shortages and so many others. We also take great pride in how RML’s teams responded to those challenges and continued to work closely with our partners across the UK Housebuilding sector to keep product flowing.

So as we put our best foot forward into 2022, it’s with confidence that our teams have faced some of the biggest challenges the business has faced in the last two years and survived!

In dealing with supply chain challenges through 2021, relationships have deepened as we have worked more closely together with suppliers and customers alike to overcome the external difficulties we faced; strong, proactive communication sits at the heart of these relationships and will continue to ensure we meet expectations even as some challenges remain.

Entering 2022, we are a national player with substantial UK-wide capacity to manufacture timber frame at volume, bespoke joinery as well as engineered timber trusses and joists. As a one-stop-shop for engineered timber products in a housebuilding sector market increasingly looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint, RML is very well placed to support demand across the country.

We continue to bring new young talent into the business through the Government’s Kickstart programme, which is helping us transform the age distribution among staff as well as creating career development paths for capable existing team members. This will be supported by our own bespoke e-learning platform designed to support staff development at all levels, to be launched soon. At a time where the business has been growing, without losing older staff, RML is proud to be able to say that over 20% of its staff are under 25, bucking trends in both construction and manufacturing.

The Cranfield doctorate, being undertaken by CEO Simon Kidney and researching the changing shape of our sector will bring new insights, while ongoing partnerships with the WhatHouse team as well as with the Create Streets Foundation will continue to bring us opportunities to work more closely with the UK’s housebuilders on future developments.

Whatever plans you have for 2022, we wish you well – and if you are looking for a timber frame, truss, joist or bespoke joinery manufacturer, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01933 279597.
