Local MP Visit For RML West Midlands
On Friday 25th June, Robinson Manufacturing (RML) West Midlands welcomed Rt. Hon Pat McFadden MP, hosted by CEO Simon Kidney.
After a tour of the factory Mr McFadden then took the time to discuss a range of topics, including the current challenges faced by local businesses.
This was also an opportunity for RML to discuss the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, and how it is supporting young people in gaining experience and employment. The scheme provides 6-month placements for 16- to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment – with the hope the candidate would be considered for a full time role should one be available.
Hayley Owen, a Kickstarter at RML, shared her thoughts on being a part of the Kickstart scheme:
“Prior to my placement at Robinson Manufacturing, I knew I was looking for an administration role but lacked relevant experience. When my local Job Centre suggested I look at the roles available through the Kickstart Scheme, I was spoilt for choice. However, RML stood out to me because of the variety the role offered by comparison.”
Also representing RML during the visit were Head of HSEQ Matt Davies, Head of Floor Production Jamie Wilkins, and Marketing Executive Carey Winder.
