Field Sales Manager Dean Thomas lifts community spirits in lockdown
With many of our employees doing their bit for the community during their time away from work as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown, our Field Technical Manager Dean Thomas has really been putting his skills to good use to lift community spirits. Dean’s favourite hobby – and almost a second job in itself – is to perform to various crowds with his swing singing.
Dean – a former Hinckley Football Manager – has been utilising his time to perform on live Facebook videos to brighten their weekend evenings, with an array of songs from Brown Eyed Girl, Dream a Little Dream and For Once in My Life, amongst others. He has been receiving fantastic recognition for his efforts, receiving a comments such as “You have just brought a huge smile to my face after such an emotional week.”
As singing is something Dean loves to do, he has been elated to see the impact he has been able to make, commenting: “I think music has a magnificent way of connecting people. Every song tells a story, for everybody there’s always a story from a song that will bring back a memory. Professional singers or just people on karaoke, young children – it doesn’t matter how good you are, you enjoy it, as well as bringing other people enjoyment.”
Dean has been continually contributing with our engagement programme with vlogs and photos. This communication has been greatly appreciated by Dean as he is normally accustomed to keeping in close contact with our customers on sites prior to lockdown. In a feature article by Leicester Live, Dean commented on how supportive RML have been during this pandemic: “The company have been very good in taking notice of how we are doing.”
Now regularly performing on Saturday nights, Dean continues to entertain the local community with his songs and we look forward to seeing him again in person soon.
