International Women’s Day in Construction
With International Women’s Day just taking place over the weekend, we are pleased to be a part of a movement for the promotion of more women to join the construction industry.
We are proud to employ a number of influential women at RML, in various roles and seniority levels. More specifically, 41% of our senior leadership team are female as opposed to the 17% industry average. In addition, sponsoring this year’s Women in Construction Summit is a way of placing ourselves at the heart of the important conversations happening around bringing women into the industry.
Understanding the value of diversity in the business and the positive impact this has on performance and innovation is important to us. RML have worked hard to improve the gender balance across the group and ensure we have a representative of females across all specialist areas – from design to business development and so forth.
Our Head of HR Anna Kennedy has been a key change maker at RML for celebrating female presence. She appreciates the value added to the business by employing more women, as she comments below:
‘Having women in senior leadership roles is a key focus to ensure that there is a strong female influence leading business decisions that impact performance and introduce more viewpoints.
Internally we support development initiatives and events such as Women in Construction help us continue to lead the way in the industry.’
In the lead up to the Women in Construction Summit this year, we will be putting our successful women in the spotlight to recognise their achievements and backgrounds that led them to working in construction. To kick-start this series, we take a look at Anna’s working history and how she contributes to RML operations:
If you have a development project you’d like to talk to our timber frame team about, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01933 279597.
