Health & Safety at Robinson Manufacturing

Health & Safety best practice is an integral part of our internal procedures, with Head of HSEQ Matt Davies appointed in January 2020 to improve our processes further.

Health & Safety Inductions For All Employees

Robinson Manufacturing ensure that employees from various sites receive the same health and safety inductions. To align this training amongst new starters and existing staff, all employees and contractors receive inductions including:

  • Manual handling and lifting heavy objects
  • Working at height
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Fire & emergency evacuation arrangements
  • Communication and safety representatives
  • Accident, incident and near miss reporting
  • Traffic routes and pedestrian walkways
  • Quality and chain of custody

These inductions are carried out with relatable case studies and engaging delivery to ensure employee commitment. All inductions are completed with a question paper to confirm understanding and employee accountability.

IOSH Approved Training Provider

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is a chartered body and leading membership organisation for safety and health professionals . Robinson Manufacturing are now approved training providers for the IOSH Managing Safely® course, which educates managers and supervisors in the core principles of health and safety.

By investing in teaching our line managers, information is cascaded to employees across all seven sites to portray a consistent message of our health and safety standards.

Designed to provide managers with the enthusiasm to apply knowledge to the workplace, training consists of:

  • Memorable and thought-provoking facts and case studies
  • Modules reinforced with clear examples
  • Checklists and materials for subsequent use in the workplace
  • Evaluation using a question paper and multiple-choice hazard spotting exercise

Staff Involvement

Initial employee inductions are just the beginning for staff involvement regarding health and safety procedures. We have various methods of communicating with teams to provide detailed information and, ultimately, safeguard their wellbeing.

Company Intranet

Comprehensive information is displayed via our company intranet, giving employees the ability to review policies whenever required and refresh their knowledge.

Toolbox Talks

Toolbox talks are also provided to give employees detailed information around important topics such as safe use of hand tools and manual handling. This resource is also utilised to inform customers around safety procedures for on-site installation involving our products.

Reporting Process

Also covered in our health and safety inductions, employees are encouraged to report any potential hazards and prevent accidents. This is reiterated consistently with a clear reporting process and examples of reports circulated to employees to improve their understanding.

Using our ‘AssessNET’ platform, all reported risks and maintenance requirements are logged in a system, allowing the relevant managers to plan and implement timely solutions.

Fire Wardens

As our Head of HSEQ Matt is a qualified Fire Manager, we can provide training to appoint employees as Fire Wardens. This gives coverage across all sites and enables us to carry out refresher training as required, in a timely manner.
