Truss Estimator Jordan Behan Completes Business Administration Apprenticeship

Jordan Behan

As relevant experience is often essential to securing a job, apprenticeships are a career stepping stone for many young adults who want to enter a certain industry. Over recent years we have welcomed apprentices into RML and guided them towards a preferred speciality that they can implement in their future career.

Over a year ago we welcomed Jordan Behan into RML as a Trainee Estimator, whilst he carried out an apprenticeship in Business Administration. This consisted of full time hours in the business learning our processes, apart from one day of the week spent at college for his teachings.

Despite carrying out most of his exams during the first months of the year, some coursework was required to be completed remotely due to the COVID-19 lockdown. After months of balancing a permanent job and studying, Jordan this week received the certificate to confirm his qualification. Now returned from furlough leave, Jordan is looking forward to pursuing his full time career at RML.

After the successful induction of numerous apprentices into the business, RML continue to support apprenticeships and the value they can bring to the business. Head of HR Anna Kennedy comments:

‘Apprenticeships are a great way for us to develop the skills relevant to our business, particularly in more specialist fields, and allows us to mould them to our values and culture. By investing in Apprenticeships, we offer skills and qualifications that are valuable to the individuals and the business, and in return gain committed and engaged employees.’

We provide apprentices with the same induction processes as our permanent employees, using identical training programmes and progress tracking. By creating this focus around monitoring progress and taking responsibility for projects, we give apprentices realistic perceptions of what is expected in a full-time role.

Jordan is a great addition to our estimating team and we look forward to supporting him in his future development with RML.
