Essex Roof Truss Factory Upgrade
As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence across the business, we are continuing with our investment programme across our four UK factories.
One of the infrastructure issues we were facing was the quality of the yard at our Essex plant, where the poor quality surface was creating operational issues for the factory’s team.
As a result, the decision was taken that the yard needed to be re-concreted to provide a smooth and consistent finish. The investment has yielded a number of benefits for the Basildon factory, including:
- A dramatic reduction in dust levels creates a much cleaner working environment for everyone concerned, especially on wet days
- A reduction in the incidence of punctures to the side loaders and the consequent impact of this on our operational efficiency
“Leading the business successfully through a substantial growth phase can’t be done simply by opening new factories like our new Welsh plant opened earlier this year,” commented MD Mark Smy. “We have identified a number of areas within the established infrastructure where targeted investment will make the business more efficient and better able to deliver the promises we make to our customers.”
