It’s been a busy few months for me here at Robinson Manufacturing. Whoever said the first few months of the year are quiet, were very wrong. I have been extremely busy dishing quotes out left, right and centre as well as undergoing an Ecojoist course and college work towards my apprenticeship.

The course I attended was in Farnborough, Hampshire, and held by Gangnail at their head office. I was staying in Farnborough for the duration of the course, which lasted two days; in that time we covered all the basics needed to navigate around the software and then went on to design more complex builds. I very much enjoyed the course and I feel that I learnt a lot, as well as it being greatly beneficial; allowing me to now start producing Ecojoist quotes for customers in addition to JJI joists. Since my return, I have been able to produce a few Ecojoist quotes for customers and I feel I am picking it up quickly and I’m already learning shortcuts within the software to help better my designs.

With regards to college, I am progressing well and have at least an assignment a month to be getting on with, which alongside my work tasks can be quite challenging. I see it all as a learning experience, as it is teaching me to manage my time better to ensure every piece of work, whether it be college or work related, gets done in a timely manner.

In addition, I have also, alongside the two other apprentices at RML, been trying to organise an ‘Apprentice Networking Meeting’ to be hosted within the next few months. With correct preparation and hard work, I’m sure it will be a success with the potential to hold them on more than one occasion.

Look out for next month’s blog to find out more.
