Alex Blyth Staff Profile

At Robinson Manufacturing (RML) we are fortunate to have many long-term members of our staff who have developed throughout their time with us and witnessed many changes in the business. Based at our South East Factory in Essex, Alex Blyth has worked in various areas of transport and production since the branch was launched in 2013.

Beginning his RML career as a driver, Alex has this year made the move over to managing the loading of our vehicles after 6 years in transport. During this time Alex has gathered vast knowledge in planning deliveries and this new role has meant our South East base can better utilise his capabilities.

With previous experience in transport and operations management, Alex’s organisational skills are invaluable to the team. The passion for travel was instilled in Alex from following in his father’s footsteps and serving in the army from the age of 17, which saw him based in Germany.

Now settled in Basildon with his wife of 30 years and a growing family, Alex has many stories to tell from his life experiences and his work ethic is demonstrated in the hours he has been willing to put into the business.

From being a part of the RML South East factory’s journey from such an early stage of growth, Alex has seen a lot of change in the business’s operations. The South East is now one of our busiest factories, serving the London and Southern regions. Now a well-established factory, this branch is a unique offering to the area and attracts many local builders’ merchants.

Alex has built strong working relationships during his time with the business. The interaction he had with site managers during his years of driving has cemented strong working relationships with our long-term customers such as Redrow and CALA.

Ultimately what has kept Alex loyal to RML for so many years is the support from the management team, in particular Managing Director Mark Smy who initially welcomed Alex into the business. He commented:

‘Mark has always operated an open-door policy, which makes communication a lot easier and he’s constantly busy working behind the scenes on any issues I have raised. Mat Harbour (Head of Production) is also always on the other end of the phone for any urgent queries.’

Paying attention to detail is really important to Alex, which is why he is especially enjoying the planning aspect of his new role. RML South East is a thriving hub of activity and we are grateful for employees such as Alex who help us meet our customer’s needs.
