The new capacity planning roles at Robinson Manufacturing (RML) are proving to maximise the efficiency of our production capacity while maintaining the high standards of our products. This has allowed us to accommodate our customer needs while keeping production at optimum levels.

Alesha Harrison, and Nick Hill, who had a great amount of experience in customer service within the manufacturing sector, found their transition to the capacity coordinator roles had been very smooth. “High demand and ongoing industry-wide issues with certain raw material supplies were challenging our established planning processes and that’s why the company required specific people to manage this as efficiently as possible” Alesha explains.

Creating these roles has allowed Nick and Alesha to further develop strong working relationships with all sites. RML has benefited from their management skills by meeting tight deadlines and site build plans and needs. Having this structure in place means our customers are kept up to date in timely manner from the point of call off as well as having a point of contact in case of any delivery related enquires. Nick added: “We are proactive in our approach and reach out to customers two weeks in advance to ensure they are ready to receive their delivery.”

Alesha concludes: “Managing our lead times on Joist and Trusses couldn’t be done without close cooperation between departments and regular updates of our systems. This enables us to be as efficient as possible in planning production capacity to meet demand.”
